Ghanaian Bishop Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has labeled two of Nigeria’s celebrated pastors as partners in winning souls for the devil.
In the words of the controversial Owusu Bempah, the founding President of Believers’ LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as “Christ Embassy”, Dr Christian Oyakhilome (popularly known as “Pastor Chris”) and General Overseer of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun (aka TB) Joshua, are not “true men of God”, but leaders of occults, winning souls for the devil.

This claim, according to Owusu-Bempah, is based on God’s revelation to him in a vision as well as his own analysis of the scripture, works and conduct of the two popular heads of two religious organisations in Africa.
Owusu-Bempah said he once heard Pastor Chris saying he saw nothing wrong with homosexuality and lesbianism, and wondered which true man of God would lead his flock with such beliefs.
“No doubt he [Pastor Chris] is a friend and partner of TB Joshua”, Owusu-Bempa noted last week, claiming both men are dubious men of God who have a pact with the devil.
For Owusu Bempah, Nigerians have allegedly realized the dubious character of the Nigerian televangelist faith healer and founding president of Christ Embassy and his partnership with TB Joshua and have consequently chased him out of the country to South Africa, where he presently resides.
On TB Joshua, Owusu-Bempa claimed he once saw him with his feet on the floor preaching, an incident he said revealed to him that TB Joshua was not from God.

“When you see anyone claiming to worship God who worships with his feet on the ground, he’s an occultist. And TB Joshua is an occultist.
“Ask yourself how TB Joshua, who claims God called him, worships with his feet on the ground? Let me tell you if you go to any church and you see the leader worshiping with his feet on the ground, it’s a sign of demonism; it’s occultic. People like that follow spirits that are not of God. It is occultic.”

According to him, God later revealed that TB Joshua was an occultist who did not draw his spiritual powers from God.
“Some time ago, I used to like TB Joshua. I was watching him on television, and the Lord opened my eyes. I saw him with horns on his head, and he had the face of a wolf. His tongue was that of a snake and he had blood smeared all over his mouth.”
“Immediately, I rushed into my bedroom, and the Lord told me that he wasn’t from Him, but was working under the authority of bad spirits,” the pastor added. “That was when I realized TB Joshua was demonic and not of God.”

The man who has himself been labeled a false prophet by some of his critics, advised Ghanaians not to be misled by signs of wonders and so-called men of God whose powers do not come from God.
He also accused TB Joshua in particular of sometimes faking miracles to win the confidence of his flock. “He can perform a clean miracle today and contaminate it with a lot of fake ones”.
Joshua claimed his ”own junior pastor went to his church to be healed. He was forced to sit in a wheel chair and made to claim before the cameras that he had received his healing even though he hadn’t. He returned to the country and within two weeks, he passed away”, Owusu-Bempah stated.

He again cautioned Ghanaians not to be in a hurry to attend the services of Prophet TB Joshua since he is the “anti-christ.”
“If you are a pastor who worked under him and he gets to know you want to reveal his secrets, he kills you directly,” Owusu-Bempah alleged.
“If no one is willing to say this, I will say it: TB Joshua is the anti-christ and an agent of the devil… I know of a pastor who attended his church, and when he should tell you about what he saw, your mouth would drop,” he stated.

Laura Fernee says her good looks are so powerful they are ruining her life – and have forced her to quit her job.
The 33-year-old science graduate says her slim figure and pretty face attracted unwanted attention from her male colleagues.
She also claims she has been ostracised by other women in the workplace who are jealous of her beauty.
Miss Fernee now lives off her wealthy parents after quitting her £30,000 job in scientific research two years ago.
She said her appearance meant she was constantly harassed and bullied, and has decided work ‘just isn’t for her’.
Yesterday, she said: ‘I’m not lazy and I’m no bimbo. The truth is my good looks have caused massive problems for me when it comes to employment, so I’ve made the decision that employment just isn’t for me at the moment. It’s not my fault?…?I can’t help the way I look.
‘Male colleagues were only interested in me for how I looked. I wanted them to recognise my achievements and my professionalism but all they saw was my face and body.’
She said men left ‘romantic gifts’ on her desk and she was ‘constantly asked out’, which she found ‘sleazy’.
‘Even when I was in a laboratory in scrubs with no make-up they still came on to me because of my natural attractiveness. There was nothing I could do to stop it,’ she added.
Miss Fernee studied science and medical research to doctorate level and began working in a laboratory in 2008. But she said she was forced to quit three years later because of the treatment she received.
She said: ‘They [other women] assumed because I was pretty, I was stupid, so didn’t take me seriously at first and, because of their own insecurities, were jealous of my looks.
‘Then when they realised I was very good at my job, possibly better than them, they hated me even more.’
Miss Fernee’s parents – Catherine, 65, and Alan, 70 – inherited money from Laura’s grandfather, and now pay £2,000 a month in rent and bills for her flat in Notting Hill, London, as well as picking up her credit card payments.
They also shell out £1,500 a month for her designer clothes, shoes and handbags, and £700 on haircuts.
Miss Fernee pays £80 a week to work out at the gym and spends £1,000 a month on socialising.
She said her critics were ‘underestimating just what a curse good looks can be in the workplace’.

A 21 year old mother of 5 yesterday caused a scene in the premises of the Magistrate Court, Ikeja when she rolled on the floor, put her breasts on display and screamed, lamenting that she and her children were at the verge of dying from hunger.
The woman Esther Odozi, who said she lives in Owanta village in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, came to Lagos last week and because she didn’t have anywhere to sleep, slept at Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries where she begged for money to come to the old secretariat in Ikeja.
She said she was directed by an official of Human Rights Commission in her state to come to Lagos that she would get help.

Odozi laid half-naked on a road in the court shouting, “Hunger, hunger. Government must do something today. I have not received anything from the plenty crude oil money government is spending in our state. Nigerians are wicked.”

Odozi shunned passersby who shouted at her to cover herself as she rolled on the ground. She revealed wounds on her left leg and the right side of her hips; she said she was hit by a car. She refused a N500 given to her by a passerby, saying, “I don’t want your money. I want Fashola to give me N200, 000.”

When approached, she said, “After confronting serious hardship in my state, I was advised by an official of Human Rights Commission in Delta to go to Human Rights Commission in Abuja. I also went to Police Headquarters and NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons) in Abuja. They all told me to go to Lagos; they said that is where I could get help.”

“My husband, Donald Ogbaja, was a retired policeman before he died of hunger. He married me when I was 17. I bore five children, including twins for him.”

Odozi said she tried to survive on her own by cultivating some crops. She, however, said she was hit by a car and had been hindered by her injury to continue working on her farm

She said, “I will not leave this court without seeing N200,000 to start business. I want to sell melon and garri. Tell Emmanuel Uduaghan, the governor of my state, and the Federal Government to do something about my condition. They must give me part of the petrol money. I must take care of my five children.”

When she was asked that as a young woman, didn’t she feel ashamed to bare her breast? She answered, “I don’t have anything and I don’t have anything to hide anymore.”

University Road. Inset: Dawodu.

When on May 13, 2013, Olusegun Dawodu opened a bar in Lagos State, his hope was to take care of his aged mother, who sponsored his education alone.
His dream was however cut short after he was killed two days later by some hoodlums during a shoot-out on University Road, Akoka, Lagos.
Our correspondent, who visited the area on Monday, learnt that three others were killed while four people sustained gunshot wounds.

A friend of the deceased, who craved anonymity, said the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

He said the deceased, who was a manager at E-Bar and Restaurant, Lekki Phase 1, usually closed late from work

He said, “Around 1am, some youths wielding guns stormed University Road and were shooting indiscriminately. The area was not completely deserted because people were celebrating the outcome of the football match between Chelsea Football Club and Benfica.

“Dawodu was driving home in his Toyota car and on getting to University Road, just about 100 metres from University of Lagos, he was hit by a stray bullet. Subsequently, he lost control and rammed into someone’s compound.

“Three other people were killed in the process while about four others sustained gunshot wounds. From what we gathered, Dawodu did not die on the spot but was shouting for help. However, no one came to his aid as everyone had run for cover.”

PUNCH Metro learnt that the hoodlums terrorised the area for about an hour without being challenged.

Our correspondent, who spoke to some residents, learnt that Dawodu was already engaged.

A resident, Mrs. Olatoke Famuyiwa, said, “Olusegun (Dawodu) was just 33 years old. His mother lived in the area and she raised him and his four siblings single-handed after their father died. I really feel for the mother.

“I cannot imagine what she is going through right now. Just last week we were congratulating Olusegun for setting up his own business and now a week after, we are mourning him. He did not even have any child of his own.”

Famuyiwa lamented the high level of insecurity in the area. She said most of the shootings were perpetrated by suspected cult members.

She said on the day of the killing, she called the police but the policemen fled on seeing the hoodlums.

She said, “Bariga, especially Ilaje and Fola Agoro, have become a hotbed of criminals and cultists.

“The killers are cult members in the area who go about intimidating people any time from 7pm. On that day Segun was killed, there was a police van around Underground Confectionery.

“We told them of the shooting but they said the weapons of the hoodlums were superior to theirs. They just fled and did nothing.”

Our correspondent learnt that the matter was being investigated by Sabo Police Division.

A police source, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said preliminary investigations revealed that Dawodu was not robbed but killed.

A friend of the deceased told our correspondent that Dawodu was not the target but was killed by stray bullet as his valuables were not stolen.

He said, “His two phones were intact while he had about N20, 000 in his pocket. The only thing missing was his car key. I do not know how that disappeared but he died inside the car.”

It was learnt that Dawodu, who studied Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the Lagos State University, had been buried at Atan Cemetery.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, requested that our correspondent call her back.

Subsequent efforts to contact her were unsuccessful as she did not pick her calls.

D’banj‘s quest for dominance in the Nigerian music scene won’t stop now; he might have lost out on signing Olamide and Davido – but he has nicked another artiste, this time a familiar friend-foe.

The self-proclaimed ‘African Michael Jacskon‘, we’ve learnt has signed his friend-turned-foe-turned-friend Oluwadamilare Okulaja better known to the public as Durella.

The move might however not come as a surprise to everyone, considering that Banger Lee (that’s D’banj’s new nickname by the way) and the ‘King of the Zanga’ Durella recently settled their differences. Some weeks back, D’banj and his DB Records crew released a single ‘Ibadi e‘ off their compilation album (D’ King’s Men) which featured a verse from Durella.

Fans were very excited to see the pair had reunited after a very long and well publicized fall out between the pop acts.

FLASHBACK

The beef between Durella and D’banj started in late 2006 when the latter accused Banger Lee of jacking his style of singing. Apparently when D’banj and Don Jazzy returned to Nigeria in 2004, they met up with Durella and soon became friends. Sources tell us that D’banj and Durella were quite close and were spotted together in the studio several times.

‘I remember when Durella followed D’banj, Don Jazzy to Jahborne’s music factory studio when D’banj wanted to record ‘Tongolo’ remix’, a source recounts.

Of course D’banj had blown up and had released his second album ‘Rundown’ in 2007 when Durella signed with TC Records and finally launched his career. It didn’t take long for Durella to blow up too with hits like ‘In da Zanga’, ‘Wiskolowiska’ and ‘Shayo’ gaining massive appeal. He also won the MTV and Zain ‘Advance Warning’ reality show in 2008.

Then came the interviews; Durella clearly stated that D’banj had stolen his style. The media of course jumped on it, comparing both artistes. Truthfully, they did sound very similar. And it seemed like D’banj was aware as he switched up the flow on the 2008 Nigerian Pop classic album ‘The Entertainer’. Their fight sort of fizzled out though as Durella later backed off. ‘D’banj is my man, aaah, I like his mo gbono feli feli jam’, Durella told Onome ‘BigTyme’ Oyaide in an interview on urban radio station Rhythm FM 93.7 in late 2008.

BACK TO THE MATTER

We are told that D’banj and DB Records bought out Durella’s contract from his present record labelIKONIC Music where the Pop act’s career has been in limbo since he signed in mid-2011 after ending his three-year contract with TC Records. His upcoming album ‘Back/Better/Bada’ has been pushed back one too many times

‘Durella has signed with D’banj, he (D’banj) bought out the contract, that’s what I can tell you’, a source in Durella’s camp tells us.

A rep for D’banj refused to respond to enquiries after asking us to send text messages to her mobile phone.

In the last 15 months, the Nigerian entertainment scene has witnessed more label shakedowns than we could have ever imagined. And the breakup season isn’t over yet…

Rapper Naetochukwu Chikwe better known as Naeto C has ended his relationship with Storm Records, the music home where he launched his career into the Nigerian music market.

NET investigations have revealed that the rapper plans to fully launch his WKG/Cerious Music label in a matter of months.

Unlike the many breakups that have preceded Naeto’s, the rapper’s exit is not battlemented; both parties have been very silent about the issue. As a matter of fact, Storm Records insist that the rapper is still signed with them.

One of the label’s directors Tola Odunsi admits that Naeto has had his own record label Cerious Music for a while but is still with Storm.

‘Naeto has had his record label for a while at least 3 years it’s called Cerious Music – his music is being pushed as a joint venture btw storm 360 and Cerious Music. Nothing has changed’, Odunsi responded to our enquiry via E-mail.

Naeto C’s profile is still active on the Storm Records official website but then again, we can’t take that seriously as General Pype (an artiste who has since parted ways with the label) also has his profile on the website.

An inside source however says Naeto has indeed left and his upcoming project will not be released under the Storm Records imprint. One insider said: ‘It is true Naeto started Cerious Music a few years back but the launch of his new outfit WKG (meaning White Kaftan Gang) will see him act fully as an independent artiste.’

WKG kicked off in the middle of 2012 with the launch of his ‘Tony Montana (Bad pass)’ video featuring D’banj. We are told he also plans to sign Lagos producer E-Kelly.

Storm Records was also not listed as one of the organizers of his first ever solo US tour which ran from late March to early May 2013.

Naeto who remains silent on the issue (he refused to reply our E-mail messages) has been busy though: he welcomed his first child while on tour in the US and returned to Nigeria to seal a deal with telecoms company Globacom as an ambassador. Popular artiste manager Godwin Tom also says Naeto is his new client.

Naeto joined Storm Records in 2006, returning from the US where he had already formed a rap group with close friend Ikechukwu and his younger brother Uzikwendu called ‘World Famous Akademy’. With the smash hit single ‘Kini big deal’, he released his debut album ‘You Know my P’ in 2008; parted ways with Ikechukwu who left Strorm in 2010 and then released a successful second album ‘Super C Season’ in February 2011.

Storm Records headed by Obi Asika and Olisa Adibua (the pair are currently in a legal battle) have in the past signed an impressive long list of acts including Jazzman Olofin, Darey, GT the Guitarman, 2shotz, General Pype. They currently have on their roaster rappers Sasha, Yung6ix, Pop singer Ms Jaie, Urban-Pop group L.O.S and gospel singer Tosin Martins.

As early as 7:30 am today Monday 20th May, chaos started at the Ago Iwoye campus of the Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Students stormed the gates of the institution which they succeeded in locking as they protested the “anti-students policy” of the school’s management.
Some of the students revealed that one of the new policies stipulates that any student who does not pay school fees on time would not be allowed into the exam hall, which could mean an extra year for some.
Policemen however arrived the scene not long after the protest had begun, arresting the President of the Institution’s Students Union Government James Ogunjimi and some other protesting students.

one of the students allegedly killed by the police

Reports making rounds on social media suggest that two students were killed during the protest. The pictures of the two students who were allegedly killed(one pictured above) has also surfaced on social media.
However the police spokes person Mr Muyiwa Adejobi insists, that no student was killed by the police during the unrest. Adejobi of the Ogun State Command said:
“They went violent this morning and some of our men were deployed to disperse them. The operation was led by a Deputy Commissioner and no live bullet was used so the issue of killing does not arise at all. They are just using the issue of killing to seek public sympathy. We don’t kill. That was the same thing they said when there was a crisis in Tai Solarin University of Education in Omu Ijebu, they said policemen killed four students. No one saw the bodies. That is what they always say to win public sympathy.
We know the way students try to get sympathy. Let them produce the corpse in the picture. They should bring the corpse to the police.”

Male model Renato Seabra 21, had a relationship with Carlos Castro 65, who was a well-known journalist and gay activist.
Sadly their fling ended with murder. After his 65 year old lover wanted to end the relationship Seabra beat him to death.
The 65-year-old Castro was found dead Friday night in room 3416 of the InterContinental New York Times Square hotel that the two gay lovers had shared. His unclothed body was covered in blood on the floor and he had been castrated, police said. The medical examiner’s office ruled that Castro died from a combination of blunt impact head injuries and strangulation, according to spokeswoman Grace Burgess.
“Seabra, a Portuguese male model, was so tortured by his 7 month gay relationship with Castro that he beat him to death, castrated him with a corkscrew, then wore the dead man’s manhood on his arms as he believed it had healing powers,” his defense lawyer said at Friday’s opening of the murder trial.
“He put one on each wrist,” lawyer Rubin Sinins said. “He did this for protection, he wandered the streets of Manhattan, touching people, because he believed he had the power to heal people from AIDS.” Layer Sinins asked the jury to return a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity, with the possibility of being committed to a psychiatric facility.
Manhattan prosecutors countered that the young man was just a gold digger who knew that his cash flow was coming to an end. “Castro, flew him to Manhattan in January 2011 with the promise of getting him work through people he knew at a Manhattan modeling agency, as he wanted to pursue a career in modeling,” Assistant District Attorney Maxine Rosenthal said.
“He wanted to be famous and make money and have nice things, clothes, electronics, gifts for himself and his family. He used Castro to get the things he wanted and to get to where he wants to be in life,” Rosenthal said.
But as the trip wore on, Castro grew tired of being the personal bank account for the young beauty, especially after he caught him hanging out with a group of women. Seabra beat the older man over the head with a computer monitor and then stomped him repeatedly until he was dead. He was angry over the breakup. He knew that what he did was wrong,” Rosenthal said.
At the trial, The model was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of his boyfriend, and was sentenced to serve 25-years-to-life in prison.
Seabra also disabled the room’s phone and took $1,600 from Castro before he left, prosecutors said.

Ogun State when a 40-year-old member, Dele Obasanya, was allegedly beaten to death by his cousins, Deji and Sunday Obasanya at Iwokun-Nla village, via Obada Oko.
The beating was said to have been prompted by Deji’s father, Pa Alagbe Obasanya, who allegedly asked his son and nephew to deal with the deceased, because he disrespected him.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, April 28 at about 4p.m. Deji and Sunday, who are currently at large, reportedly came to the village in a tricycle with three unknown men. The five men were said to have gone to Dele’s house where they learnt that he was sleeping.

They reportedly asked his aged mother to call her son out and immediately they set eyes on him, they were said to have descended on him, beating him until he became unconscious. Having satisfied themselves, Deji, Sunday, and their friends ran away, leaving Dele in a pool of blood.
Crime Reports gathered that on return from his farm, Pa Obasanya met Dele unconscious. Residents of the village were said to have appealed to him to take the seriously-injured man to the hospital, but allegedly shunned them, saying that Dele, his attackers and himself belonged to the same Obasanya family, and so should be left alone.
He was alleged to have also threatened to to write petition against any of them if they should attempt to take Dele to the hospital, as he would hold them responsible for anything that happened to Dele in the hospital. Because of his statement, the villagers reportedly left him alone, but unfortunately, Dele died same day at about 8p.m.
The villagers were said to have reported at Ewekoro police station the following day when they saw the old man attempting to bury the deceased.
Before the event that led to Dele’s death, Crime Reports gathered that Pa Obasanya had reported the deceased to his son, Deji and his nephew, Sunday, that Dele beat him. The attack on Dele, it was said, was not to unconected with Pa Obasanya’s report to his son.
However, Pa Obasanya, whose age could not be ascertained, denied sending his son and nephew to beat Dele though he admitted that he told his nephew that Dele once pushed him off a chair and hit him with a stick. He claimed that people were just saying things to rope him in. Pa Obasanya, who also said that he was a farmer, told Crime Reports: “I am from Abeokuta but I live in my village at Iwokun-Nla via Obada Oko.
“Dele was the son of my elder brother while Sunday was born by my younger brother. Both brothers are dead so I am the head of the family. On the fateful day, I was in my farm when someone came to call me that Sunday and Dele were fighting. I was not there to know if my son Deji was there, but people are claiming that he was also among those who attacked Dele. By the time I came, Sunday had run away.
“”When I saw Dele’s condition, I really pitied him. He was just crying and saying that he was beaten by Sunday. I also saw he was beaten because he was soaked with blood. I also saw a deep gash on his neck. Someone helped in bathing his wounds and he was taken inside the house. At about 8p.m., he breathed his last.”

Insert: Dele Obasanya (Deceased) and Pa Obasanya

Crime Reports sought to confirm whether it was true that Pa Obasanya said the deceased should be taken inside the house instead of being taken to the hospital for treatment, when he saw the severity of his injury. He answered that the fear that overcame him made him lose all sense of reasoning.
Pa Obasanya insisted that he would not have allowed the fight if he had been around.
He denied asking his child and nephew, Deji and Sunday to beat Dele because he was once rude to him. Narrating what once transpired between him and Dele, Pa Obasanya said: “Those saying that are just lying against me. When something happens, people will be looking for a scape goat; that was why they started milling that rumour.

“Dele and I lived in the village. Some weeks ago, Sunday came to the village and saw me limping. When he demanded to know the reason, I told him it was Dele who hit me with a stick. Dele’s action then was prompted by the quarrel between my son and his son. I have a young son from my young wife but the boy is older than Dele’s son. Dele said my son beat his son when he went to fetch water.
“He came to report but I replied him that the beating could not have been so much as to warrant his reaction to it. I was sittting down, he just pushed me and I fell. He said he knew I would support my son against his own. Before I knew what was happening, he picked a stick and hit me with it. I was helped up but Sunday noticed it when he came.”
The old man, who was being interrogated at the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, however said that he had not laid his eyes on his son, Deji, and Sunday since the incident happened.
Confirming the story, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said that investigations would reveal the culpability, or otherwise, of Pa Obasanya, stating further that efforts were on to apprehend the suspects at large.
